Baby food pouches not adequate for nutritional needs of infants
An investigation by the BBC Panorama team found that the nutritional profile of a variety of different brands of baby food pouches in the UK were both inadequate and not suitable in meeting the needs of an infant's diet. These same brands are found on the shelves in Ireland and it was discovered that they were not only deficient in key vitamins/minerals but also had sugar quantities in a single serving which exceeded maximum daily recommendations. This is another stark reminder that food manufacturers do not necessarily have our health and welbeing as a primary driver of product development and production. For babies and toddlers, pureed home cooked foods which include vegetables, fruits, dairy and a protein source can offer a good nutritional mix superior to processed ready-made foods. https://bbc.com/news/articles/c62j0l0gg4go
